World Oral Health Day: A Celebration of Health and Well-Being
Every year, on March 20, the global dental community comes together to observe World Oral Health Day (WOHD), promoting the importance of oral health for overall well-being. This year, dental professionals are invited to partake in a free webinar hosted by Dr. Anna Lella and Francesca Nava, aimed at encouraging dental teams to engage with the public on this vital theme. The focus for WOHD 2026 is "A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life", representing the culmination of a transformative three-year campaign.
Toothie the Beaver: Spreading Awareness
The essence of the campaign revolves around Toothie the Beaver, a cheerful mascot introduced in 2024, which aims to connect the dots between oral health, mental well-being, and preventive care. In 2025, the campaign expanded to highlight oral health’s influence on self-esteem and confidence, resulting in a significant uptick in community engagement — evidenced by over 55,000 resource downloads globally.
Practical Insights from the Webinar
The upcoming webinar promises practical insights and strategies for dental practitioners eager to adopt WOHD tools and resources in their communities. Dr. Lella emphasizes that the toolkit includes easily adaptable materials such as posters, social media content, and children's activity sheets, thus easing the burden of content creation and enabling more effective outreach.
Call to Action: Join the Movement!
As we gear up for WOHD 2026, it’s crucial for local dental practitioners to interact with patients about preventive measures in everyday conversations. By adopting and sharing the WOHD messages, we can collectively make a lasting impact. Join the webinar on February 18 at 3 p.m. CET and discover how you can contribute to a healthier future, one smile at a time!
